Concert - The Boat Drunks, with Rob Mehl

The 2011 and 2008 Trop Rock Band of the Year is flying out from Champaign-Urbana to play their first-ever concert here in the Valley of the Sun. Our opening act will be Rob Mehl from San Diego.

The Boat Drunks is a special event band that caters to a special group of people—those who love "Trop Rock" (tropical rock) music and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett.  Led by Jake Tatar, they are big Illini fans, and we are very fortunate to have them perform for us the night before the ASU game.  If you have not heard of them, reach out to your friends back in Champaign-Urbana, and they will confirm how luck we are to have them join us for the evening.

The band plays throughout the midwest, east coast, and Gulf coast and have played with or opened for legendary acts such as Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band, the Beach Boys, and Little Feat.  Winners of the 2011 and 2008 Trop Rock Band of the Year, they have released three successful albums.  Their song "Hollow Man" is #3 on Beachfront Radio's list of top Trop Rock songs of all-time.
Rob Mehl will perform at 6pm.  Acoustic beach ballads with a hint of jazz, Rob Mehl plays guitar and ukulele, tells stories between songs, and believes the audience “splash zone” should reach all the way to the back row!

We will have drink specials, including $2 beers, $3 wells, and $2.50 wine.  We are holding this event at the same hotel where we have the discounted room rates, the Dobson Inn on 1666 South Dobson Road in Mesa, just off of US 60 and AZ 101.  Click here to reserve a room.

This is the perfect way to kick off our ASU weekend party!  Pre-registration has sold out, but they will take another 20-25 walk-ins at the show.  Cash or check, please.  Don't be late!
