The Phoenix Illini Club recently completed its first annual elementary school supply drive.   The local club collected back packs, pens, pencils, notepads, folders, erasers, glue, scissors, rulers, and pencil sharpeners for more than sixty students at two Valley schools.

PIC Donates School Supplies to Excelencia Elementary

Excelencia Elementary school in Phoenix is once again our primary partner for our higher education project.  The goal is to educate students on the value of higher education.  The second grade class of Brenda Barrios received school supplies to ensure that all students in her class started the year with a full kit of needed supplies!  In addition, various club members go to school and talk to the class about what the U of I has to offer and how a college education has enriched their lives.  If you would like to speak to the class about your U of I experience let any Board member know and we will ‘hook you up’.

PIC Donates School Supplies to Sunset Elementary

School supplies never go to waste!  The Phoenix Illini Club collected enough school supplies during its first annual drive that it was able to donate the extra backpacks, pens, pencils, erasers, glue, scissors, pencil sharpeners, and rulers to Cori Klues's sixth grade class at Sunset Elementary in Glendale.  Cori is a graduate of the University of Illinois and a member of the Phoenix Illini Club.

It's not to late to donate to this worthy cause.  The second semester is right around the corner and Staples and Office Depot continue to have great weekly specials on school supplies.   This is a long term project and the club will continue to collect backpacks and miscellaneous school supplies for local area grade classes.  You can donate / drop off supplies at any Club event!
